Arlington VA Family Photos | Bon Air Rose Garden

These Arlington VA family photos were so much fun to capture. I have been photographing Laura’s family since she was pregnant with her first, so it has been a joy to watch her family grow.

We met on a summer evening at the Bon Air Rose Garden in Arlington VA. I rarely photograph sessions back-to-back, but I photographed this one directly before a maternity session at Bon Air Rose Garden. It was a gorgeous evening for a session – not too hot with a cascading sunset.

The Bon Air Rose Garden is one of the few locations I prefer to photograph in the evening. The way the light falls directly behind the gardens is perfect at sunset. I usually recommend early morning sessions for light, less foot traffic, and best time for little ones. However, the Bon Air Rose Garden is an excellent location for evenings.

Although small, the Bon Air Rose Garden does offer lovely scenery with roses that are in season from late spring to even early fall. We were able to find an array of colorful roses on this late September evening.
