This Brookside Gardens photo session was an ethereal dream as a Northern VA Family Photographer. I love golden light, but there is something to be said for an overcast, foggy morning. The fog helped create a magical feel throughout Brookside Gardens during this family photo session. We even found some lingering cherry blossoms to add some warmth on this spring morning.
We ventured out to Brookside Gardens in Maryland for this family photo session on an early spring morning. I had been diligently watching the forecast, hoping the rain would stop. Fortunately, the rain ceased the night before, but there was no sun in the forecast. Golden light is always gorgeous, but I knew we could create a beautiful scene with the cloudy skies. I’m so glad this darling family trusted me to photograph them early on this cloudy morning.
My favorite time to photograph is usually right after sunrise. I know it’s early, and as parents, we value sleep on a whole new level! However, I have found that early sessions ALWAYS pay off. Not only do we get gifted with the best light (whether sunny or otherwise), but we usually have the space to ourselves. This means following a smooth session flow without stopping for other people. Better yet, little ones are often in their best spirits early in the morning!
