This DC cherry blossoms family session was so fun! I photographed this sweet baby boy for his outdoor newborn session almost a year earlier, so it was special seeing how much he had grown! The DC cherry blossoms are iconic and definitely a sight to behold, so we thought it would be the perfect setting to document this growing family!
The cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin are probably the most popular spot to see the cherry blossoms in the city – and with good reason! The combination of the soft pastel blossoms with the calming water of the Tidal Basin and the beautiful monuments in the distance make for a gorgeous backdrop.
With the DC cherry blossoms comes crowds, of course! If you want a cherry blossom session at the Tidal Basin, be prepared have an early wakeup call and go with the flow! Sunrise is the best time of day to soak in the beauty of the Tidal Basin with the blossoms – and everyone knows that! Most parking fills up by 6:30 in the morning, so I recommend arriving by 6:15 to give yourself some wiggle room.
Despite the early arrival, be prepared for crowds. We’ll still be able to get beautiful images, but that’s why it’s important to hire an experienced photographer who has photographed at the Tidal Basin before. You’ll want someone who knows all the best spots and knows how to pose strategically to avoid all the people around.
