If there’s one thing I can always count on, it’s that the Griffin crew will show up ready to have fun, and their latest session proves it all over again. I’ve photographed this sweet family a few times now, and every time feels like catching up with old friends. This time, we met up for a set of Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens photos, and the gardens were showing off in the best way. The soft, post-rain light made everything feel extra magical, and honestly… these seven just make my job way too easy.
One of the coolest parts about photographing the Griffins is that Kristin, the mom, is a fellow photographer. She’s always willing to lean into more artistic ideas, which means I get to play, experiment, and create portraits that feel a little extra special. The rain had just stopped right before our session (like minutes before!) but they trusted my vision, embraced the slightly damp scenery, and it absolutely paid off. Between the rich greens, the glowing pathways, and the little pockets of misty atmosphere, it felt like the gardens turned into their own dreamy backdrop.
We wandered all around, chasing good light and exploring the prettiest corners for their Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens photos. The kids loved it too; there were a few spots where they could run, climb, and just be themselves, which always brings out those genuine smiles. By the end, we were all laughing, a little muddy, and very convinced that the rain was the best thing that could have happened.
