Maternity session dresses may at first appear difficult to find. After all, we’re only expecting for a short period of time. Your maternity photographer can help guide you to look and (most importantly) feel radiant in your maternity images.
The biggest worry I hear from expecting mothers is that they do not have anything to wear. I’ve got you covered. As part of the experience I provide my clients, you’ll have access to a boutique wardrobe of beautiful, flattering dresses to make you look and feel your best. You don’t need to purchase a dress you will only wear one time.
I am sharing my favorite maternity session dresses below. Some of these are already a part of my client wardrobe and some are dresses I would like to add soon. If you want to wear one of the dresses not part of my current selection, let me know and I will add it for your session!
Nothing Fits But Dresses
Nothing Fits But has a selection of gorgeous dresses that evoke femininity and nostalgia – two of my favorite things! They are so flattering and are often flexible in how they can be worn. They also work for all stages of motherhood – maternity, postpartum, or everyday!
Rachel Pally
Rachel Pally offers a wide selection of maternity dresses that fit and look beautifully on expecting and new mothers. I also adore the timelessness of their aesthetic and appreciate how their dresses are flattering on all shapes and sizes.
Dôen
Ethically made with superior quality, Dôen dresses photograph beautifully with a classic feel. Once again, they work well for both maternity and postpartum mothers.
Baltic Born
Baltic Born has recently come out with an array of dresses that look gorgeous in photographs due to their flowy nature. They provide such a large collection of dresses in a variety of colors that I’m sure you can find something that works perfectly for you and compliments the rest of your family’s ensemble.
Katharina Hakaj Couture
Let’s talk ethereal. I am personally not a fan of “photoshoot maternity dresses,” but Katharina Hakaj Couture provides a luxurious take on a traditional maternity gown. The tulle fabrics and organic tones create truly an exquisite aesthetic to elevate your images.
Needle & Thread
Needle & Thread does not typically offer maternity dresses, so one does need to be strategic if selecting one of their gorgeous gowns. They also have lots of tulle with the addition of meticulous needlework to create luxurious, ethereal gowns.
When selecting a Needle & Thread gown for maternity or newborn photos, make sure you choose one with a higher waistline and go a couple sizes higher than usual. You are able to look at exact measurements to aide with your selection. I incorporate dress clipping with many of my dresses, so no need to worry if you select one that is too big – it is always better to go bigger with this kind of fabric!
