National Gallery of Art Maternity Session

This National Gallery of Art maternity session made me swoon! Shannon reached out and knew she wanted a location that was unique and different for her maternity session. Washington, D.C. is full of gorgeous backdrops, and we sometimes forget about the ones indoors!

The National Gallery of Art is the perfect location for a maternity session if you want a location that is chic and romantic. We photographed Shannon and Nick’s maternity session in winter, so it was also a bonus that we didn’t need to worry about the colder temps!

I love playing with architecture and lines during sessions, and the National Gallery of Art provided us a lot of beautiful opportunities to do so – from a stunning staircase to atrium with greens, we had a fair share of backdrops that added whimsy and elegance. We even found a gorgeous portrait of a mother and her daughter (see below!).
