Tudor Place in Georgetown DC is one of my absolute favorite photoshoot locations. I list it as one of the best locations for an elegant session in the DC area in this post.
Tudor Place consists of a beautiful Federal-style manor and luscious English gardens. It is hard to believe that this five acre property rests in the heart of Georgetown DC. It has a European feel, so it is easy to forget you’re in Washington DC!
Photo sessions at Tudor Place in Georgetown DC do require a photo permit. However, you will have the entire property to yourselves. I love this about Tudor Place since many DC locations can become overrun with tourists. It’s peaceful to take your time exploring the gardens and wandering the property.
The gardens always have something in bloom each season. I think this makes Tudor Place a truly romantic location any time of year! Their website even includes a list of what’s in bloom each month.
A peak into Tudor Place Georgetown DC…
I love photographing evening sessions at Tudor Place. Normally, I recommend morning sessions for crowded DC-area locations and the best light. However, Tudor Place has ethereal evening light, and you’ll have the space to yourself.
I think one of my favorite spots in Tudor Place is the box-knot English garden. It certainly feels like you’re in Europe! You can also see lovely views of the manor from the box-knot garden.
The boxwood circle area of Tudor Place Georgetown DC leads up to the manor. I love the white rock pathway – it acts as a natural reflector for photography and creates a beautiful directional backdrop.
Another favorite location at Tudor Place in Georgetown DC is the front lawn and the columns of the manor. The front lawn serves as a wide open space, perfect for toddlers running around! The manor is a stunning backdrop to all photos.
The columns provide beautiful depth of field to the gardens behind them. Little ones (or dogs!) can also play or peek into the windows of the manor.
There are so many other little vignettes throughout the property that shine in the different seasons. I love photographing at Tudor Place in spring to catch all of the bright blooms.
