This spring family session outside of Northern VA was simply a treat. Spring is one of the most magical times of the year. We live in an area where we are fortunate to have so many beautiful gardens all around. One of my absolute favorite locations to photograph is Brookside Gardens in Silver Spring, Maryland – only about 15 minutes outside of Northern VA and Washington, D.C. Brookside Gardens is a large property that always has something in bloom, no matter the season. I have photographed a winter session at Brookside Gardens and another spring session a few weeks prior. Although we missed the cherry blossoms at Brookside Gardens for this session, we were graced with ethereal wisteria and stunning azaleas. It was simply a dream.
This was another early morning session. I always recommend early sessions with little ones, especially at a location that can get crowded. Most of my clients live in Northern VA, so I am simply thrilled when they trust me to travel a little north for a beautiful location. Brookside Gardens is quite popular in springtime, but we had most of the garden to ourselves. The wisteria was in peak bloom, so we were able to enjoy the space before others found it. I also find little ones are happiest early in the morning. It takes a little advanced planning, but I promise you – it’s worth it!
