This family session at the Tidal Basin amidst peak cherry blossom bloom was so much fun. This family was such a good sport – they arrived to the Tidal Basin at 6:30 am on a Friday morning for this cherry blossom session, and wow, did it pay off!
Cherry blossom sessions take a lot of planning and patience. First, we need to wait for the National Park Service to announce expected peak bloom dates. Next, we need to tentatively schedule a sunrise cherry blossom session on a weekday morning. Believe it or not, the Tidal Basin will be crowded at sunrise on a weekday – just a little less crowded than midday and a lot less crowded than on a weekend.
We were able to capture some touching moments amongst the blooms, and I loved playing with the two little ones. This family is moving shortly, so I’m so glad they were able to get these iconic Washington DC portraits. DC definitely shows off this time of year.
