I have always found milk bath photoshoots pretty, but I didn’t know just how beautiful and romantic they could be. I photographed my friend Sarah and her adorable family (you can see more of her family newborn photos in Annapolis here), and after we took photos of the whole family, Sarah and her beautiful baby girl got into tub and we made some magic!
Milk baths are actually a great setting for moms and babies when proper safety precautions are put into place. We first made sure the water was high enough to provide modesty, while giving room for Sarah to safely hold her baby above the water. The water was warm but not too hot for baby. We then added about half a gallon of milk and some luscious florals from Trader Joe’s to create a whimsical setting. We used milk in a half gallon jug, but I have heard that powdered milk can work, as well. I liked the half gallon amount because it made the water opaque without making the water too white.
