Old-World Maternity Session at Salubria Northern Virginia

This old-world maternity session at Salubria, Northern Virginia was an ethereal dream. It felt like it was from a different time. If you know me, you know I love all things vintage and old-world. This session exuded just that. The mama-to-be, Tiffany, is expecting her third child, so it was wonderful to pamper her for a day.

This DC maternity session was held outside the city at Salubria, a historic manor part of the Germanna foundation in Northern Virginia. The French blue interior and tall windows not only provide ample light, but make you feel like you’re in a European chateau. That’s my kind of backdrop! I just think pregnancy is such a magical time, so why not have a magical session?

Outside the Salubria manor is a beautiful field with lovely light. We were able to take some photographs outside to complement the indoor images. To fit the romantic narrative, we also took photos on the swing outside. We even found a small birds’ nest – how fitting for a maternity session!

Tiffany wore a stunning dress from the client wardrobe and had her hair and make-up done by Lori Nansi. I hope you enjoy this stunning old-world maternity session at Salubria, Northern Virginia.

Tiffany’s gown from the client wardrobe was perfect for this location. It added that ethereal, old-world aesthetic that brought out the antiquity of the manor.

I also love how larger dresses can really accentuate the bump and provide movement and flow to your photographs.

Look at this gorgeous light falling on Tiffany! It truly amplified the elegance of this Northern Virginia maternity session.

Doesn’t she look so ethereal here? I love how the light seeped in from this window to illuminate her. It was simply heavenly!

Salubria in Northern Virginia even had a tree swing! We had to check it out and photograph Tiffany there. It added a nostalgic feel.

Detail shots are an important part of your maternity session. The bump is temporary, and although pregnancy is so difficult, we often miss feeling those kicks and movements.

The French blue walls make you feel like you’re in a European castle – not Northern Virginia!

I love how the movement of Tiffany’s dress is accentuated here.
