I am incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to photograph at such classic monuments. There are so many perfect options to choose from – the Lincoln, Jefferson, DC War Memorial, etc. The U.S. Capitol Building serves as a timeless backdrop for your DC family photos. I met this family on an early spring morning, and although it was cloudy, we had soft, even light. I am always a fan of golden light, like at this U.S. Capitol family session. However, cloudy days do provide even light that is not only flattering but allows us so much more flexibility in where to photograph. Add some classic marble, and we have a stunning scene.
I know mornings can be tough to get ready and get out the door. I can promise you, it always pays off. Little ones tend to be in good spirits, the light is the most flattering, and the scene is generally empty. It simply involves planning – but it is truly, truly worth it!
