This Washington DC Family Cherry Blossom Photo Session was delightful. These tiny pink blooms last for only a short duration, but they make such a big impact! If you would like to have a cherry blossom session, I recommend being incredibly flexible. The National Park Service gives a peak bloom prediction every year, but this prediction often changes. The prediction did end up changing for this cherry blossom season, and Jill and her family just went with the flow!
It was a rainy Thursday morning that we ventured to the Tidal Basin for this cherry blossom family session. We had already rescheduled once when the peak bloom changed. Although the forecast kept on changing between rain and clouds, we decided to swing it and just do it. What many people may not realize is that cherry blossom season not only comes at a different week every year, but peak bloom typically does not last for more than a week. Heading to the tidal basin at sunrise during a weekday is also a must! Despite COVID restrictions, the Tidal Basin can still get somewhat crowded, so it is essential to plan for an early time.
We lucked out with the weather for this session. We knew we were risking it with the weather forecast, but I was confident we were going to get beautiful, pastel images regardless. And that we did! The little ones even got to splash in some puddles. I hope you enjoy this Washington DC cherry blossom family session.
