Hello friends! I cannot believe it is the last day of 2021. With the craziness of 2020, 2021 simply flew by! In fact, 2020 and 2021 are somewhat blurred together!
2021 was such a fruitful year for Marie Elizabeth Photography.
Rebrand
The year began with a complete rebrand. I officially launched my new brand and website at the end of January. The rebrand was focused on three primary components: 1) making motherhood photography romantic and nostalgic, 2) providing a completely customized client experience, and 3) serving my clients with printed artwork to forever live on their walls.
Since January, I have been able to serve so many wonderful clients in a way that brings me so much joy. I love the opportunity to get to know my clients through my new process.
Beautiful Spring Sessions & Print Feature
In March, I had the amazing opportunity to photograph a gorgeous maternity session at The Great Marsh Estate in Northern VA, complete with a stunning Needle & Thread gown, florals by Petal’s Edge, and hair and make-up by Lori Nansi.
This session was then featured both online and in print in The White Wren. What an extraordinary honor it was to have my work featured in print!
I photographed so many sessions in spring with beautiful blooms – this Tidal Basin cherry blossom session, this National Arboretum cherry blossom session, this wisteria session outside Northern VA, and this Brookside Gardens spring session. These sessions definitely developed a new love of photographing in gardens for me!
The spring also welcomed my new garden studio! I was able to open the studio with this beautiful maternity session (later featured on The Motherhood Anthology).
Salubria Maternity Session
In summer I had another extraordinary maternity session at Salubria in Northern VA. This stunning session pushed me creatively and made me fall in love with photography all over again. I normally only photograph outdoor sessions (other than studio), so it was so much fun to photograph in this beautiful, naturally-lit manor.
Fall Travels and New Locations
The fall was my busiest season yet – with a beautiful rose garden maternity session in Arlington to a Lincoln Memorial family session in DC to another gorgeous Brookside Gardens session with adorable twin girls.
I also was able to photograph at a few new locations, including Rock Creek Park and the Howard County Conservancy, both gorgeous fall locations for their bright foliage.
October brought travels to Florida for the Fount Collective workshop to better hone my artistic and business skills. It was a refreshing retreat in the midst of busy season, and I still hold on to the beautiful moments and lessons learned.
2021 was a magical year. So many new clients, so many old friends. Features in The Fount Collective, The Motherhood Anthology, The Kindred Path, and The White Wren.
It is truly an honor to serve as your Northern VA and DC Newborn & Family Photographer. Thank you, thank you, thank you for allowing me to follow along your family journey.
