This Tidal Basin cherry blossom family session makes me swoon! I met Lyuba and her beautiful family on an early weekday morning during peak bloom this spring. We lucked out with gorgeous light and perfect, peak blossoms.
Although these images evoke peaceful, dreaminess, the Tidal Basin was swarming with people that morning! It was the first beautiful day we had had in a long time, and peak bloom had just been announced the day before. Parking was hard to come by, and you would have thought that it was midday on a weekend with the number of people who were at the blossoms at 7 in the morning.
A lot goes into play for cherry blossom sessions. First, we need to check the peak bloom forecast and monitor it if it changes. Second, we need to arrive to the Tidal Basin at sunrise on a weekday morning. Cherry blossom sessions at the Tidal Basin must take place on weekday mornings due to the enormous crowds.
