Stanton Park Cherry Blossoms Newborn Photos, a brand-new baby, and a family who literally lives around the corner. This session had my heart from the very beginning.

There are some sessions that just feel like they were meant to happen, and this was absolutely one of them. When this sweet family reached out about their newborn session, they mentioned they lived just a few blocks from Stanton Park. And honestly? I knew immediately that we had to make it work. The cherry blossoms were just about to peak, the weather was cooperating, and we had a tiny new human to celebrate. It was a no-brainer.
I am so, so in love with how these Stanton Park Cherry Blossoms Newborn Photos turned out, and I cannot wait to share them with you!

When Do the Stanton Park Cherry Blossoms Bloom?
If you’re a DC local, you already know that cherry blossom season is basically a whole event here. And while the Tidal Basin gets allllll the attention (rightfully so, it’s gorgeous), Stanton Park on Capitol Hill has its own stunning canopy of cherry blossoms that bloom around the exact same time, typically late March into early April.
Here’s the thing though: while thousands of people are lining up at the Tidal Basin, Stanton Park is right there, just as beautiful, with a fraction of the crowds. You’re talking about a relaxed, peaceful park in a residential neighborhood, which honestly makes it so much better for a newborn session. No jostling for space. No strangers walking through your frame every 10 seconds. Just you, your tiny new baby, and the most incredible canopy of white blossoms overhead.
For this family, it was even more special because Stanton Park is basically their backyard. There’s something really magical about memorializing your baby’s first weeks in a place that’s part of your everyday life, a place you’ll walk past for years with your little one and think, that’s where we took your newborn photos. I love that so much.

Should You Do an Outdoor Newborn Session?
This is one of my favorite things to talk about because I think a lot of families don’t even realize outdoor newborn sessions are an option! When most people picture newborn photos, they think of a studio, a white backdrop, posed baby on a beanbag. And those are beautiful! But an outdoor session, when the weather is cooperating, can be incredibly stunning and so full of life.
The key phrase there is when the weather is cooperating 😊 We always keep a close eye on the forecast leading up to the session and have a backup plan if needed. Babies are also obviously tiny and need to stay warm, so we’re thoughtful about timing and temperature. Spring sessions like this one, with mild temps and soft light filtering through the blossoms, are genuinely ideal.
Outdoor sessions have this beautiful, airy quality to them that you just can’t replicate indoors. The light is different. The environment adds so much context and feeling. And for families who love being outside, it just feels like them, which is always the goal. If you like outdoor newborn photos in the city, check out these Constitution Gardens newborn photos.

A little behind-the-scenes on what’s included in your session:
One of the things I hear most from clients as a DC Newborn Photographer is that they were so stressed about planning their session, what to wear, how to do their hair, what to put the baby in. I want you to be able to just show up and soak in this moment with your new baby. So here’s what I take care of for you:
- A client wardrobe with beautiful, curated pieces for you to choose from so you don’t have to spend weeks stressing about outfits
- Professional hair and makeup because you just had a baby. Let someone else do the primping 🙂
- A Moses basket for those dreamy newborn shots, so no need to source props on your own
My whole goal is for you to feel taken care of from start to finish, so you can be fully present for one of the most fleeting, beautiful seasons of your life.
If you’re a DC family and you’ve been dreaming of Stanton Park Cherry Blossoms newborn photos, I would love to help make that happen. Cherry blossom season waits for no one, so reach out sooner rather than later. Spots fill up fast in the spring!
